THE BIG LEBOWSKI is the most recent creation of the Coen Brothers. Everyone knows, Coen brothers' movies are always on the bizarre side and THE BIG LEBOWSKI is one of them. It is weird but hilarious and gives tremendous pleasure to the audience.

We are first introduced to The Dude (Jeff Bridges), who is fat, unemployed and "a man in whom casualness run deep" as described by the Coen Brothers. He rolls through life aimlessly and likes hanging out and bowling with his two best friends, Walter (John Goodman), a hysterical fat guy who seems to be angry with all, and Donny (Steve Buscemi), another humble but stupid man.

Suddenly one day, something happens that makes the Dude's life less ordinary. Two men rushes into his house and asks for the money he owed to them. But actually, they have mistaken the Dude as the other Lebowski, the millionaire Jeffrey Lebowski (David Huddleston). Soon after they realized that, one of them urinated on the Dude's rug and left.

In order to have the rug replaced or at least compensated, he goes to Jeffrey Lebowski (the big Lebowski)'s house and talks about the matter with him. Just after their meeting, the big Lebowski's wife, Bunny (Tara Reid) is kidnapped and it is decided that the Dude would be the man to deliver the million dollar ransom. But then Walter suggests the Dude that he should keep the money while the Big Lebowski's daughter, Maude (Julianne Moore) thinks that the money should be returned to her family. Nevertheless, they all cannot keep the money eventually as it's stolen.

Later, it is found out that Bunny Lebowski actually owes a large amount of money to a porn film producer , Jackie Treehorn (Ben Gazzara) and the most important question is whether Bunny is really in danger or the whole story is just a fake one. The answer is quite unpredictable and it may be better for you to find it out yourself.

In the film, we know that the Dude and Walter have been soldiers in Vietnamese war and the Coen Brothers cleverly imply the post-Vietnamese war consequence by many ways : the Dude dreams that his penis is removed, he is attacked when he is having a bath - all these are the sexual fear of men which is the effect of the Vietnamese war that cannot be wiped out. Overall speaking, the plot of the whole story is pointless and it just aims for generating bigger and bigger laughs to the viewers. As a comedy, it is a big success.

Bridges and Goodman are perfect as two big idiots in the movie. All other supporting characters did promising job, especially John Turturro as a bowler named Jesus, is very hilarious and really stands out.

One last word, the Stranger (Sam Elliot) who appears in the final minute of the movie is actually the narrator from the beginning. What an intelligent surprise it is!
