- dear adrian,
recently i found myself less interested in some mainstream hollywood movies. i've just finished watching a dvd - poison (1991), which is a highly challenging but fascinating indie film (and one of the most original films i've ever seen). it's controversial at the time of release in the way that it was partly funded by the national endowment for the arts (us) and became the locus in the far right campaign against "government funded pornography". in fact, it's no more obscene than most other r-rated flicks in the us though some viewers may find a couple of scenes unsettling (in fact, the film is a blend of 3 separated but inter-related stories. the most shocking one for me would be the one shot in the style of a 50s b-grade sci-fic horror flick, in which a scientist creates and becomes infected by a revolting disease and finally becomes a contagious leper. jeeeeezz... i can still remember how scary his face looks like!) it's an exceptional film and i can guarantee you've never seen this kind of movies before. so in case you come across it anywhere, anytime, do see and experience it.
alright, time to go to bed now. may be i'll talk more tonight.
jason
