- dear jason,
i still believe that i can't live without music. music is like oxygen for me. you'd find me putting on earphones on my way to office or home, when i'm alone. i wanna thank the people who in the past have given me so much guidance and inspirations into the world of music : my father, saint, who bought me the tickets for the concerts of hong kong philharmonic orchestra (hkpo) every weekend in the past 12 years and i then discovered sibelius in 1991 when hkpo played his sym. no. 1. afterwards in around 1995 or 1996, he brought home a cd, enigma's the cross of changes (which is now my second favourite album of all-time) from shenzhen. it was just like i was in a different world from the one i was in, like i'm floating in the clouds. and it later served as the bridge between the classical and pop music worlds and it led me first into new age music and eventually pop music, which i'd been trying my best to avoid.
in the next few years, i spent most of the time searching for even more genres of music on my own, conquering them one by one, treating them like battles so that i could eventually rule the world, err, the world of music more exactly. my friends said that i took music too seriously and that may be true. and then i met a couple of friends, and their tastes of music had significant influence on me. they're brandon, rachel, fred and sinead. it'd be hard for me to let you know in details how my taste changed because of them but i just wanna say thank you to each one of them. i'm really glad that i am, or was once a friend of theirs, even though i dun even know where one or some of them are
ok, it's time to go to bed. btw, i highly recommend the two towers, which, for me, is much better than its predecessor and it must be seen in theatre to be believed how good a movie it is!
